Strain DH-12 exhibits broad-spectrum antibacterial activity toward Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. The 7.6-Mb draft genome sequence gives insight into the complete secondary metabolite production capacity and reveals genes putatively responsible for its antibacterial activity, as well as genes which enable the survival of the organism in an extreme arid environment.

By screening for microbes that exhibit β-d-galactofuranosidase (Galf-ase) activity, a Streptomyces sp. strain, named JHA19, was isolated from a soil sample from Kagawa University, Japan, in 2010. Here, we report the results of whole-genome shotgun sequencing and found that the strain has four predicted Galf-ase genes.

Here, we report a draft genome sequence for this bacterium, found to have 94.7% average nucleotide identity (ANI) with Streptomyces roseosporus NRRL 11379, and containing a diverse suite of secondary metabolite gene clusters.
